ADULT CAREER & CONTINUING EDUCATION SERVICES. Serving the Education & Employment Needs of New York State's Adult Citizens. Individuals with Disabilities. NYCDOE offers tuition-free adult education classes in all five boroughs for people 21 and older who do not have a high school diploma.

We offer over classes for adults age 21 and over. We operate four Adult Learning Centers located in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and the Bronx. The New York City Office of Adult and Continuing Education (OACE) is the largest provider of adult literacy education services in the state. We are an integral part of the New York City Department of Education's Division of Equity and Access. Any New York City resident who is: 21 years or older; Does not have U.S. High School diploma or equivalency (HSE) Some Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes also have limited space for adults who do have high school equivalency diplomas. The Workforce Development Center (WDC) provides a broad range of workforce preparation and educational services to students enrolled in the Division of Continuing Education and to adult residents of New York City. Today, continuing education encompasses a wide span of programs across NYU’s schools, but it is most fully realized in NYU’s School of Professional Studies (NYUSPS), a global leader in university-based continuing higher education. NYUSPS draws upon strong connections to New York City’s key industries and cultural sectors to support.
